Hi everyone,
I've recently downloaded NVDA on my work laptop. I'm currently running Jaws as well. I can't find NVDA, and don't know where to look in Windows Explorer. If I were to re-download NVDA, where should I save it. I would like to use Jaws as my primary screen reader. But, I'm interested in NVDA. I have heard it does things that JFW does not (what exactly I'm not sure). Also, how does one switch between JFW and NVDA. I would assume Jaws would need to be turned off? Any beginner NVDA tips would be appreciated.
i'd be glad to help you. NVDA by default should be saved in your downloads folder. The basic commands for NVDA is almost like those of jaws, but with a few differences, mostly it's when your dealing with the review commands using the mouse. if you'd like leave me your info of how I can get ahold of you in a pm or something and i'll do my best to help get you started, as well as provide you with any sort of addons that you would need.
If you could PM me, that'd be great.
My suggestion if you intend to keep using JAWS as your primary screen reader is to use a portable copy of NVDA. This incidentally, also has the added benefit of allowing you to basically carry around a screen reader wherever you go on a flash drive if you like that sort of thing or use multiple computers.
Agree, I almost forgot about that actually.
I've noticed that with the proper add ons, NVDA does far more than jaws. and it's all free. no need to pay.
Unless you want a different synthesizer than the default.
